Today I celebrate my 200th post and over 12,000 views, and I owe it to all of you.

First, I want to thank those first 10 people who commented on my blog: Adventures in Reading, Rebecca (only e-mail given), John Mutford @ The Book Mine Set, Swimanog, Lezlie @ Books ‘N Border Collies, Beastmomma, Aaron @ That’s The Book, Heather @ Book Addiction, J. Kay Martin (only e-mail given) and Lightheaded @ everyday reads.

Second, I want to thank the following individuals for commenting on my blog more than 20 times:

  1. Jessica @ The Bluestocking Society (27), who most recently has been running a Lit Flicks Challenge, which I have been enjoying (and even commented this morning– go figure)
  2. Gautami @ Reading Room (25), who ironically awarded me a Super Commenter award herself not a couple of months ago
  3. Trish @ Trish’s Reading Nook (23) who has been one of my faithful followers from the start of my blog
  4. Ann Darnton @ Table Talk (23), who I encountered first through The Sunday Salon.

Third, to express my gratitude to these 14 individuals, I want to give each of them a book from 14 books that I rated with either a 10 out of 10 or 5 out of 5 (under my new rating system).

The 14 books are:

  1. Rumpole and the Penge Bungalow Murders by John Mortimer 10/10
  2. Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman 10/10
  3. Left To Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust by Immaculee Ilibagiza with Steve Erwin 10/10
  4. 180 More: Extraordinary Poems For Every Day, edited by Billy Collins 10/10
  5. Sailing Alone Around The Room: New and Selected Poems by Billy Collins 10/10
  6. Sister Pelagia and The White Bulldog by Boris Akunin
    10/10
  7. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie 10/10
  8. Look Homeward, Angel by Thomas Wolfe 10/10
  9. Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut 5/5
  10. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling 5/5
  11. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton 5/5
  12. The Giver by Lois Lowry 5/5
  13. Black Boy by Richard Wright 5/5
  14. Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes 5/5

I also have a 20th anniversary edition of The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, which includes a reader’s guide and interview with Coelho. While I did not enjoy it, I am sure one of you among the 14 might enjoy it. This will be given to the first one of you among the 14 who lays claim to it.

I already have a hardcover copy of The Giver and a gently-used paperback copy of Neverwhere. I will purchase the others, primarily in paperback, except in the case of the Sherman Alexie book which as of yet is not in paperback, and have them shipped to your address.

I will give Bookchronicle from Adventures in Reading first choice since she was the first commenter and then Jessica, Gautami, Trish and Ann the next four choices, with each getting the choice of what’s left over. I would ask that each of you respond to which book you want, perhaps giving a first and second choice in case the book you initially wanted was already taken, via e-mail at justareadingfool (at) gmail (dot) com by this Friday night, Oct. 24 at 11:59 p.m Eastern Daylight Time.

By Saturday morning, if not earlier, I will send out an e-mail to the remaining nine individuals on what’s left and then it will be on a “first requested, first got” basis. If I don’t hear from the remaining nine individuals by Oct. 31 at 11:59 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time, I will open the remaining books to a drawing within the next week.

All books will be shipped by the end of November, hopefully in time for the holiday season wherever you live.

If any of the 14 winners do not like or have read all of the 14 choices, please feel free to select a book off my list of books read this year that you would prefer. However, please try to pick off the list of 14 first, if you can. Thanks.
