When I first began this blog on April 25 of this year, I had no idea that it would take off like it has. Now for many of you, the numbers which I’ll mention here will seem like nothing, but for me, who has other blogs which almost nobody reads, I’m impressed with these numbers. In my first month in April, I had 163 views; in May, 980 views, and so far in June (as of 3:30 p.m., EST, 6/24/2008), 1,007!
In honor of y’all breaking the 1,000-view mark for me, I want to give a few shout outs to a few of those who have helped me reach this milestone (okay, milestone to me anyway; I know, not much of a life, huh?):
- Adventures in Reading, who was my first commenter. Thank you for getting the ball rolling, so to speak. I
- John Mutford from The Book Mine Set, who was among one of the first also.
- The Ax For The Frozen Sea, who reintroduced me to LibraryThing.
- Swimanog, whose name still throws me for a loop, even after seeing her “Who?” page ;).
- Lezlie at Books ‘N Border Collies, through whom I’ve been recently introduced to the 100+ Reading Challenge.
- Beastmomma, another of my first commenters.
- “Dewey” at The Hidden Side of a Leaf, who introduced me to Weekly Geeks, which I participate most of the time. Through this group, I’ve been introduced to quite a number of very (if I can say it?) cool book bloggers that are far above what I write here. Thank you, Dewey, for this group. My first post with Weekly Geeks was discovering new blogs. The five I chose to highlight were:
- Andi North with Tripping Toward Lucidity; Lightheaded with Everyday Reads; Christine with She Reads Books; Suey with It’s All About Books; Lauren from North Dallas with Reading Reflections, one of which I recently learned I didn’t have in my Google Reader. Sorry, Christine. I have now corrected that.
- Deb Hamel who hosts The Sunday Salon: It was through Dewey that I also learned about the Salon. These two groups alone, Weekly Geeks and The Sunday Salon, probably have been the biggest boost to my readership and I know through both of them that I have found more blogs to read myself.
I also would be remiss if I didn’t mention the following community and meme groups to which I belong:
- Book Blogs, a blogging community on Ning that I also have joined, which was started by Tricia of Library Queue. I admit I haven’t been there a lot yet, because of all the other groups with which I’m involved.
- Booking Through Thursday, a weekly meme about (mostly) books and reading, hosted by Deb of Chappy’s Mom
- Tuesday Thingers, a weekly meme for LibraryThingers, hosted by Marie of The Boston Bibliophile.
Thank you, one and all for your warm welcome, into the book blogosphere. I started a book blog on another blog platform before WordPress.com and didn’t find nearly as many people there interested in discussions as I have found here and on another platforms like Blogger and WordPress.org, to name just a couple.

Congrats! What a great accomplishment. I think I’ll hit the 1,000-visitor milestone this month too – yeah! We can celebrate together. :)

Congratulations!! 1000 hits on such a young blog is awesome, and your site is worth every one of them. (Thanks for the shout out, too!)
